The Sixth Form College: Entrance Procedures
For those considering entry into the Sixth Form College, your first step should be an informal visit with your daughter to see our College facilities, to meet the Director of College and members of staff, as well as to talk to some of our own students.
Please telephone the college direct to make an appointment, or attend one of our Open Days. Alternatively, you could attend our College Information Evening on Tuesday 27 September 2011 at 7.00 p.m. which combines presentations about the Sixth Form experience and its alternative curriculum paths of A Level or IB Diploma, with the opportunity to chat with staff and students.
Following your visit, we will arrange a formal interview with the Director of College for your daughter. Entry is dependent on a minimum of six GCSE’s at A*-B grades (or equivalent qualifications) and candidates are expected to achieve grades A* or A in subjects that they wish to study at either A Level or for the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Candidates must also have a 'C' grade or above in GCSE English and Mathematics.
We also refer to predicted grades and references from a student's current school. Some students will be required to take papers to assess their ability in English, Maths and option subjects.
International students:
We welcome applications from international students who have been educated abroad, whose qualifications are regarded as equivalent to our GCSE requirements. Please contact our Registrar, Miss Lynda Bevan for more information.
