Sixth Form Careers Event: 'It's Your Future'

Today's Sixth Form College event, ‘It's Your Future', enabled all students in Years 12 & 13 to attend an afternoon of workshops in order to discover more about careers they are considering, and to meet practising professionals from a diverse collection of industries and occupations. Students were able to attend two workshops from the ten on offer, each of which covered a fairly broad sector of the employment spectrum, from Art & Design to Science and Engineering.
Workshop leaders gave an account of what they actually do all day, why they enjoy it and some of the challenges they face. It was also an opportunity for the students to find out how career paths develop, often taking unexpected turns.
The feedback from the students has been very enthusiastic and Mrs Harvie, our Head of Careers was also pleased to hear the positive comments about the event from our guests, many of whom are keen to come back again next year. A number of parents gave their time and support generously to ensure the success of the afternoon and we would like to express our appreciation for their efforts.
