A Regal Show by Royal Athletes

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 25 Jun, 2009

More than 400 children showed off their track and field ability last week when the B&NES Schools Minor Athletics championships took place at the University of Bath.  Among the 13 secondary schools taking part was The Royal High, who won the Year 7 and 8 girls' age groups.  Saskia Guscott and Issy Morris led the way for the Year 7 girls, winning the 100m and 200m respectively before teaming up with Izzy Perkins and Ciara Gill for a relay victory.  Georgia Clark won the Year 8 200m and was part of the winning relay team alongside Cliona McKenna, Tegan Hawker and Rosie Kendall.  Scarlett Last, Flo Woolley and Gem Centamore stepped in to cover at the last minute for injured athletes and Francesca Meaden also competed admirably in her first athletics event.  Special mention should also go to Saffron Green who, despite being unable to compete, helped to manage both year groups on the day.
