Egg-stra Special Easter Event Goes With a Right Royal Bang
From The Bath Chronicle Thu 8 Apr, 2010
Pupils at a Bath school have been celebrating Easter by using their creative talents to raise money for a good cause. Youngsters at the Royal High Junior School collected almost £1,100 for children's charity Barnado's through sponsorship for their traditional activities. The children have taken part in a hand-painted egg competition, where they created a 'personallity' for their egg and then made them a suitable home or outfit. Some of the ideas included a deep sea diver, a tractor driver and the Queen of Hearts. Other activities included Easter biscuit baking, egg rolling, a jumping event and, at the end of the week, nursery and infant children took part in an Easter bonnet parade for their parents. Infant teacher Jess Knights said everyone had enjoyed having fun, while at the same time raising money for charity. She said: 'The idea of having sponsored Easter activities came from the children at a school council meeting. We have been delighted at the enthusiasm of the children and the generous support of parents. This has been a great result for a really worthwhile cause.'
