New head has to tackle angry mum

A 10 year old schoolgirl has spent the day in charge of her school.

Coco Vercoe won the chance to become the head teacher of The Royal High School after her father outbid all the other parents at a charity auction.

During her day of duties she had a very full diary, including leading the morning assembly, chairing a senior management team meeting and showing round prospective parents.

Coco also had to handle a mock parental complaint, from her own mother, and had to start the afternoon's mock exams for Year 11 pupils.

The Lansdown independent school's real head teacher Rebecca Dougall was full of praise for how Coco had took on the challenge.  She said: "Coco was undaunted by the prospect of facing a whole school assembly.

"She was very calm and composed and took the whole day in her stride.  She listened attentively in meetings and was not afraid to ask questions or speak her mind.  I think she is a natural leader."

Coco won the opportunity at the Royal High School Charity Ball, which raised almost £9000 for the school and good  causes.

Television antiques expert Jonty Hearnden oversaw an auction of promises, where Coco's father made the winning bid for a pupil to become head for the day.
