RHS Duathlon Double
From The Bath Chronicle Thu 2 Jun, 2011
Duathlon Athletes from The Royal High Junior School posted an outstanding set of times at the Independent Schools Duathlon Championships, held at Stonar School last week. The school's under 11 A and B teams both claimed first place in their respective competitions, comprising 200m in the swimming pool followed by a 1km run for the A teams, and 100m and 500m respectively for the Bs. Athletes also had to get out of the water and don their running shoes at speed, as the two events ran back-to-back with the clock ticking. The timings of all four athletes in each team were then aggregated to determine the results. In the individual competitions, Laura McNab bagged first place in the under-11 A section and Jessie Lindsay was second in the under-11 B event. Delighted Head of PE Clare Elsley said: "The girls can be justly proud of their achievements. They have trained really hard for the event and there is a great team spirit in the squad. We have real strength in depth and it's remarkable that all four members of our A team finished in under nine minutes, a feat unmatched by any other school." The Royal High under-10 A team also achieved an impressive fourth-place finish, continuing the school's track record in multi-sport competitions.
