Record Number Win Programme Places

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 22 Sep, 2011

Hockey  The Royal High School's Hockey Teams have received a major morale boost at the start of the new season after a record number of girls were invited to join the Avon and Wiltshire Junior Hockey Development programmes.  Twelve players from The Royal High have been selected for the special talent pathway squad, ten of whom make up over a third of the total for Avon.  They will now benefit from a rigorous training programme and be eligible for inter-county fixtures.  Sephanie Meech, Jeanette Macklin, Alice Courtis, Florence Yates, Cliona McKenna, Rebecca Waters, Isabel Perkins and Maisie Palmer have all won Avon call-ups at under-17 level, with Isabella Morris and Isobel Lee Barber recognised in the under-16 and 15 categories respectively.  Tegan Hawker and Emmy Hawker have been selected for the Wiltshire under-17 and 15 programmes respectively.  Royal High Director of Sport, Zoe Sheffield said:  "This is great news for the girls and the school.  We have put a lot of time and resources into our individual mentoring scheme across all sports and it's really paying off.  The number of players selected for extension training is at an all-time high."
