Students - Win Offers From Oxbridge

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 26 Jan, 2012

Sixth formers across Bath are celebrating after receiving offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.  Three international (IB) students and three A-level students at the Royal High School are looking forward to taking up their places at the prestigious institutions.  Jennifer Brennan has been offered a place to read philosophy, politics and economics at University College, Oxford, Eleanor Grundy to read biological science at Magdalen College, Oxford, Bethan Macdonald for modern and medieval languages at Robinson College, Cambridge, Betsy Jones to read classics at Newnham College, Cambridge, Leah Knight to read modern and medieval languages at Girton College, Cambridge, and Molly Seymour to read archaeology and anthroplogy at Homerton College, Cambridge.  Head teacher Rebecca Dougall congratulated them all on their success.  She said:  "We are delighted to be congratulating our Year 13 students who were successful in their applications to Oxford or Cambridge this year.  With all of our IB applicants gaining offers, it's clear that some of the anxieties that have surrounded IB and Oxbridge might have been unnecessary.  What unites these students is a sense of the 'hunger' that they are able to articulate about their chosen subjects and an ability to thrive when pushed outside their intellectual comfort zone."
