U10 & U11 hockey fixture v All Hallows School

Mon 28 Sep, 2009

Four teams were in action on Saturday against top quality opponents rom All Hallows, a school well known for its sporting prowess, especially in hockey.

It was always going to be a daunting fixture, and that's how it turned out. Our U11 A team  played magnificently to force a draw (1-1). with particularly good performances from Amelia Harker, Molly Spearman and Jessica Tucker.

The U11B team also played extremely well, conceding a late winner in a closely contested match that finished 1-0.  Laura Clifford-Ward and Milly Sergeant were our players of the match.

The U10A were overwhelmed by the experiencd and well drilled opposition in the first half, conceding five goals.  But our plucky players really put their game together in the second half, which was much closer, with just a single goal separating the sides, resulting in a 6 - 0 defeat which didn't tell the whole story of the match. Particular congratulations go to Isobel Beresford for lifting the side in the second half with her determined and mature performance.

The U10B team fielded three players making their debut, but the team played very well together. Eventually going down 2-0, there were plenty of positives to take from the match. They ill certainly get better as they play more matches and get to know each other's game. Meg Allen and Isobel Pinder did especially well.
