It's 11 And Out For The First Male Head

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 17 Dec, 2009

The Headteacher of a Bath Independent School is retiring this week.  Former professional cricketer James Graham-Brown has worked his last term at The Royal High School after 11 years of service.  The school's Deputy Head, Rebecca Dougall will take over as Head next term.  Mr Graham-Brown was appointed in 1998 to lead the new school, which had just seen the merger of The Bath High School and The Royal School.  He was the first male Head of a school within The Girls' Day School Trust in its 138 year history.  Mr Graham-Brown, who played for both Kent and Derbyshire, has overseen the new co-educational Sixth Form College and the start of the International Baccalaureate diploma programme.  Colleagues presented him with a sign from The Cricketers Pub as a farewell gift at his reitrement reception.  There was also a reception for parents in the Guildhall after the school carol service in Bath Abbey.  Pupils said goodbye by performing some of his favourite songs and poems in an assembly on the last day of term.  He will now go travelling before returning to Bath to continue a career in writing as well as maintaining an active interest in the theatre as a trustee of The Rondo.
