Cross Country Champions
Fri 2 May, 2008
On Friday 2nd May, 14 girls from years 5 & 6 took part in the annual schools’ Cross-Country match at King Edward’s School.. As the whistle went to start the race, it was evident that all girls wanted a place at the front away from the hustle and bustle in the middle and rear of the pack. They set off at a good pace, only to be met by a steep incline immediately as they turned the first corner. With pure grit and determination, the girls overcame the steep nature of the course, showing some fantastic spirit and great running techniques. It was clear from the start that this event was not going to be for the faint hearted, and after 2km of running up hill, only the very best would complete it without stopping! Particular congratulations go to Kathini Logut, individual winner in the Year 5 age group. Our Year 5 runners also won 1st place in the team competition. Runners from Year 6 also posted some very impressive finishing times, gaining a creditable 4th place. All girls who completed this course ran exceptionally well in tough conditions, and should be very proud of their achievements. They should all be commended on their sportsmanship and work ethic and I would like to congratulate every one of them on their efforts. A big thank you also to all the parents who came to support – it was fabulous to see so many of you there at the start and finish! Your time is greatly appreciated.
