Girls' Day School Trust Junior Gymnastics Championships
Wed 12 Mar, 2008
Seven of our gymnasts travelled to London to represent the Royal High Junior School at the Girls' Day School Trust Gymnastics Championships. With each girl competing on the floor and on the vault, the day was bound to be action packed. First up for the girls came the vault. With fabulous displays of control, effort and enthusiasm, every pupil completed either a handspring or straddle vault to complete their competition quota. They performed magnificently, with straight legs, pointed toes, power through the arms and great use of the spring board to execute their skill. A special mention to Flo Woolley who executed the 3rd best vault of the day, but who was competing as a reserve, so the score was unable to count. Then came the floor, With routines a minute long, the girls performed 6 skills within it to music, With grace and elegance, the girls performed the skills effortlessly, interpreting the music to their routine. At the end of the competition, the girls came a pleasing 5th place. It was fantastic too see the girls perform with such focus and belief, and they should be commended on their efforts at this championship. Well done to all. A big thank you too, to Mrs Davis and Caroline Ryan for their efforts on their day – your help and enthusiasm was greatly appreciated.
