U8 Rounders Festival at Kingswood Prep School

Mon 19 May, 2008

The U’8A team got off to a whirlwind start, putting their opposition under pressure from the first ball! Siding 7 players against Kingswood, the girls fielded brilliantly to stump out and restrict the number of Rounders scored by the opposition. They then moved into bat where they showed real supremacy in the accuracy and pace of their hit from the batting tee. The girls were very impressive over all 3 matches, and should be very proud of their performances for their first ever Rounders fixtures. The final scores were as follows:
RHS V KWD                 won      14 ½ - 10 ½
RHS V St Margaret’s      won      13 – 11
RHS V MC                    drew     12 – 12
Player of the match goes to the whole team for their efforts on the day, with a special mention to Ellie McKenzie who showed real promise in both her hitting and fielding. The U’8B team worked really well together as a team, showing good support and encouragement throughout the day. During their 3 matches, the girls had plenty of time to improve their fielding technique and batting accuracy, as well as implementing and learning new rules and strategies for the game. They were impressive in all 3 games showing real heart and spirit throughout. The results were as follows:
RHS V Extras               lost       14 ½ - 10
(4 RHS girls participating in part of the extras team throughout the day, 2 from the ‘A’ & 2 form the ‘B’!)RHS V KWD                 lost       12 – 8 ½
RHS V St Margaret’s      won      9 ½ - 6 ½
Player of the match: goes to India Duke for her batting prowess! A really great start to the summer season for Y3, well done to all involved and thank you to all the parents who continue to support the girls at these fixtures! Your efforts and loud applause is very much appreciated by all – even the opposition! Many thanks.
