We have acquired one of Bath’s historic buildings to provide a wonderful new home for our Junior School and Nursery School.Cranwell House, situated in eleven acres of parkland and gardens was built in the 1850s. Originally built as a gracious country seat for one of Bath’s most famous mayors, Jerome Murch, it has subsequently been an art school and, more recently the home of Summerfield Special School. The building  retains  a wealth of original architectural features. The architect James Wilson, also designed the main building of our current Senior School.

With extensive and secure grounds, our new home will allow for exciting developments, both in learning and in play, for the Royal High School’s youngest students. To further strengthen the links between the Junior School and the Senior School, we will be using the outstanding facilities at The Royal High Senior School on Lansdown Road to host events such as sports days, prize givings and other occasions to which we invite Junior School parents and the broader community.

The move to Cranwell is part of an adventurous journey for the school and for the building itself as it takes on a new lease of life. Architecturally Cranwell will be a seamless blend of the old and the new and this echoes who we are as a school, with an impressive history of educational achievement but with our sights set firmly on what we can do to help our girls to achieve in the future. Cranwell will provide an outstanding and vibrant learning environment in which we will continue to celebrate intellectual curiosity, explore diverse creative challenges and enhance the richness of childhood.

Our vision for the Cranwell site is that it will be the inspiration for a ground-breaking advance in the provision of junior years education for not just the city but the region as a whole - a showcase of excellence of which we hope the community in Weston and beyond is duly proud. We are looking forward to returning this beautiful, landmark Bath property to its former glory and to giving it a new and exciting lease of life.

Please visit this page from time to time to keep up with news about our new home.  You can see some photos on this page and we will update these as the development progresses.
