A Welcome From The Head
I am proud to introduce you to our Nursery. We are totally committed to giving your daughter the best possible start to her all-round development and education.
We provide a stimulating and caring environment that builds on each child's invaluable home experiences. This will give her the self assurance to explore her learning environment using her natural curiosity and creativity. All our learning experiences are based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which recognises that children develop and learn in their own individual ways and at different rates. Our fully qualified staff are dedicated and experienced and all children are assigned to a specific adult using the "key worker" system. Staff plan each session to meet the levels of confidence and independence of each young learner, working with small groups and on a one-to-one basis as appropriate. By the time she leaves our Nursery your daughter will be prepared for the transition to full-time education.
CO-EDUCATION
We are delighted to announce that we will be extending nursery provision to brothers of Royal High Junior School pupils from September 2010. Please contact our Nursery Manager, Mrs Michelle Fernandez for more information or to arrange a tour.
NURSERY FACILITIES
The Nursery School has its own self-contained accommodation within the beautiful landscaped gardens and grounds of the Royal High Junior School which has good access to Bath city centre. This provides the homeliness and familiarity that young children need. The Nursery rooms are light and spacious with specialist facilities for activities such as weekly Gym, Music, Ballet all taught by specialist staff. Outdoors, the children have their own secure, supervised play area where they can explore in safety. We also fully utilise the excellent facilities of the Junior School including the main hall with stage, fully equipped music room and dance studio and cookery room.
In addition to making the most of these superb resources the Nursery is very much a part of the whole school, joining in with school events such as Infant and whole school assembly sessions throughout the week. This regular, active involvement in school nurtures your child's self-confidence and will help her make a smooth transition to full-time school.
NURSERY STAFF
Children in our care are in very capable hands. As part of The Royal High School the Nursery is also a member of The Girls' Day School Trust (GDST). We are accredited by OFSTED and inspected by the Independent Schools' Inspectorate with regular inspections of our education and care taking place. The high standards of our provision have also been recognised by the award of "The Bristol Standard", the quality assurance scheme of the Bristol Early Years and Childcare Partnership. We continue to work closely with B&NES and have recently achieved the "Healthy Early Years" award and a Gold "Sing Up" award.
STARTING NURSERY
Children may start The Royal High School Nursery any time from 6 weeks before their 3rd birthday and, depending on their date of birth, may spend up to 2 years in the Nursery department. The Nursery offers a morning and afternoon session each day and a flexible system allows parents/carers to select the sessions that meet their needs best. All pupils are offered a hot meal at lunchtime each day and meals are cooked on site daily and are served in the dining room. Children staying for After School Care are offered sandwiches, fresh fruit and a choice of milk or water. The Nursery Education Grant which is available to all families is accepted against the cost of each session.
We fully appreciate that many of our families have demanding commitments that require them to seek flexible and very high quality child care provision. Our Nursery operates from 8.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. during term time. In addition we operate Holiday Workshops for 3-10 year olds during Nursery closure time including half-term. Parents/carers can book sessions flexibly to meet their own particular circumstances.
There is no substitute for a visit and we hope that you and your daughter will come and discover for yourself the warmth and sense of purpose that is at the heart of everything we do.
