Alice is a hit High School Musical

Mon 27 Jun, 2011

Children at the Royal High Junior School staged a colourful and entertaining adaptation of Lewis Carroll's children's classic on Thursday & Friday last week.  The cast of  Alice In Wonderland  included  everyone in Years 5&6 and served up a feast of song,  dance and a witty and humorous script.

This musical version  was specially written for schools and youth groups, with roles being shared by several performers, so everyone had a chance to be in the limelight. The production featured three ‘Alices' and Cheshire Cats for instance.

The staff and children have been rehearsing since Easter, and the performances  wowed the audiences on both nights.  "It's been an absolute pleasure working with the girls on this production," said Paula Millard, Head of Performing Arts. "They have all given their very best during rehearsals and gave outstanding performances. I am very proud of them."

Two  of our parents, ably assisted by one of our staff made all the costumes and the school's caretaker Tom Woods, who is a very talented designer and craftsman helped create the props, which included  a zany set  for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party (table with fork legs and spoon chairs).
