Grand news for piano players

The music department has just taken custody of a very fine instrument that will be a real joy for our many pianists to play. The Bechstein grand piano was made in Berlin in 1935 and was the treasured possession of the late Mr Norman Payne, a gifted musician and former Principal of Bath College of Higher Education (now Bath Spa University). We are very grateful to his family for the extended loan of the piano to the school. We currently have a wealth of piano playing talent , with seven students having already passed Grade 8, and a further thirteen working towards this benchmark of musical excellence. They will have their lessons on this wonderful piano and we look forward to hearing it played in concert performances.
