Sisters in Semi-Finals of UK Songwriting Contest

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 8 Sep, 2011

Two talented sisters from a Bath school are enjoying their first taste of fame after making it through to the semi-finals of a national songwriting competition.  Chloe and Izzy Pinder are both pupils at The Royal High School and entered this year's UK Song Writing Competition.  Their piece was called Hide and Seek, described as a blend of folk and soft rock, and charts the transition from childhood to teenage.  Chloe, who is 14, and 11 year old Izzy faced stiff competition from many much older and more expereinced writers and performers but still managed to impress the judges and make it through to the semi-finals.
Their success meant they were invited to perform live on BBC Points West this week.  Chloe said:  "We were thrilled to have the chance to do the song on television and pretty nervous when we discovered that several hundred thousand people would be tuning in.  But the show's presenters Alex and Andrew were very friendly and put us at ease."  This was not the first time the girls have performed in front of a large audience, they also recently played a set at the opening night of the Bath International Music Festival.  To watch a video of the sisters' performing at a recent gig night at their school go to www.youtube.com  and search for 'Chloe and Izzy'
