Young writer Ellie joins the Bloomsbury Set

Tue 13 Sep, 2011

One of our Year 8 students, Ellie Walker found inspiration from the mountain air on holiday in Switzrland over the summer to put her creative writing talent to good purpose. Having time on her hands, her internet surfing alighted upon a short story competition.

'247tales' is an online short story competition for young writers aged 10 to 16.  The challenge is to create an interesting, provoking and well written piece in no more than 247 words.  It's a monthly competition, featuring a different theme each time,  organised by Bloomsbury Publishing.

Ellie's entry 'The Lie' is the winner for August.  In addition to her prize of £75 worth of books, Ellie gets a framed copy of her story and the enormous kudos of having her work published online.

Her imaginative interpretation of the theme could equally have been entitled 'The Princess and The Press.'  You can read it at www.247tales.com .
