Academy Boys Meet Their Match

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 25 Mar, 2010

Members of the Bath Rugby Academy met their match on the netball court last week when they took on an all-girls team from The Royal High School.  The girls triumphed 16-12 in a charity fundraiser for The Crane Academy, a school in Kenya which is twinned with The Royal High and were cheered on by a big crowd.  Pupils paid £1 each to watch the game and the post-match interviews.  School spokesman Deryck Goodman said: 'We are very grateful to the Academy players for agreeing to take part in this event, which was great entertainment for the students.  Their ball-playing skills, sense of positioning and height advantage presented an unusual challenge to our netball team.'  The proceeds will help to support the education of the children that The Royal High is sponsoring at The Crane Academy, where many are orphaned or whose parents are too poor to pay the modest fees that are necessary to fund their schooling.
