Curriculum — IB Diploma Options
It is our intention to offer students (subject to authorisation) the opportunity to study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma from September 2008.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a programme of study where students choose one subject from each of six groups.
Subjects are studied at Standard Level or Higher Level and students offer 3 Higher Level Subjects and 3 Standard level subjects.
We are planning to offer the following subjects in each group:
Group 1
– Language
• English
Group 2
– Second Language
• French, • German,
• Spanish
Group 3
– Individuals
and Societies
• History, • Geography,
• Economics and
• Philosophy
Group
4 – Experimental
Sciences
• Biology, • Chemistry,
• Physics
Group 5 –
Mathematics
and Computer
Science
• Mathematical
Studies or
• Mathematics
Group 6
– The Arts and
Electives
• Theatre Arts,
• Visual Arts OR an additional
subject from
groups 2,3,4
or 5
In addition students also follow the core requirements of the diploma, comprising Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).
