Royal Girls Book a Trip to Palace

Biathlon Girls from The Royal High School had a day to remember when the University of Bath staged the first of four Schools' Biathlon Championships semi-finals on Sunday. The school notched up a hat trick of team titles, triumphing in the Year 6, 9 and 12&13 sections, as well as finishing third in the Year 7 competition. The event saw children from Years 5-7 tackling a 50m swim and 500m run, while in the older age groups the distances were increased to 100m and 1,000m respectively. At stake were places in the national final at Crystal Palace on Sunday March 25. Laura McNab struck gold for Royal High in the Year 6 competition, posting 2,522 points, with schoolmates Imogen Clayton and Natasha Reid making up the winning team in 13th and 28th places rspectively. Isabell McNab matched her sister's tally exactly to finish second in the Year 7 section, with Georgia Keen in tenth spot. Another Royal High pupil, Alexandra Withey, took silver in the Year 8 competition, while Sophie Langman, Charlotte Penney and Kathini Logut came seventh, eighth and 22nd respectively to scoop the Year 9 honours. Becky and Alice Courtis were fourth and seventh respectively in the Year 12&13 section, with Daisy Gray in 12th completing the triumphant team.
