Rushgrove is guest
From The Bath Chronicle Thu 31 Jan, 2008
World record holder Ben Rushgrove passed on his knowledge to Bath Pupils as The Royal High School launched a new series of lectures this month.
The lectures are aimed at both sporting and non-sporting students, providing them with the opportunity to listen to and ask questions of inspirational and successful speakers from a variey of backgrounds.
Paralympic sprinter Rushgrove, who trains at the University of Bath, was the first speaker to visit the school.
He smashed the T36 200m world record en route to a brace of gold medals at the Visa Paralympic World Cup in Manchester last year.
Future speakers will range from current athletes to experienced coaches and it is hopes that they will help to increase the profile of sport towards Bath’s hosting of the UK Schools Games in August and leasing towards London 2012.
It is hoped that the lectures, which are being held in the Hudson Centre, will increase both the knowledge and motivation of students while giving them a social opportunity to interact with other like minded students from B&NES schools.
