School Looks Back on Year of Success

Sporty pupils at The Royal High School, Bath marked another year of outstanding achievement at a celebratory dinner last week.  They were joined by Bathampton snowboarder Zoe Gillings, who gave an insprirational talk to the assembled students.  Highlights of the year so far are the under-16s rugby team's second place in the Independent Schools tournament.  They also reached the regional finals and were plate winners at the Marlborough College Invitational Tournament.  The school also finished as runners-up at the Girls' Day School Trust swimming championships in London, with senior girls and aspiring Olympian Alex Warren achieving a personal best.  Year 7 pupil Ellie Cumpsty has been training wiht the national sailing squad and The Royal High also provided finalists in all year groups at the Avon Schools tennis championships.  School hockey coach James Kellock, who also plays for TeamBath Buccaneers, has represented both England A and Scotland this year and Saskia Cockrane was selected for the Swindon Dance Academy.  The school participates in many dance events in B&NES as well as hosting both a secondary and primary schools festival
