Swan Song for Music Teacher Adrienne

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 9 Jul, 2009

Pupils at a Bath school have said farewell to their music teacher in style with an end-of-year production of Arabian Nights.  Year 5 & 6 students from the Royal High Junior School entertained audiences with their music, dance and drama performance.  The show was a fitting finale for the school's Director of Music Adrienne Hale, who is leaving after 19 years to concentrate on a professional singing career.  It was loosely based on the stories such as Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves and included costumes made by parents and a set created by the school's talented caretaker and part-time furniture designer Tom Woods.  Mrs Hale said she had enjoyed her long career as a teacher.  She said:  "I've had a fantastic time here and it has been wonderful to see so many of the pupils develop a passion for music and singing, which I hope will stay with them for life."  Talented pupils at the Royal High will be displaying their artwork at an event at the Octagon in Milsom Place.  The show, which will run from 9-12 July from 11am to 4pm daily, will allow the public to see the work students have been completing as part of their curriculum work.  Director of Art Graeme Preedy said:  "Students will be able to see their work on display to the public for the first time, which will be a real thrill.  We are immensely proud of the standards that our students achieve and welcome this opportunity for them to show off their work in such a wonderful setting."
