Talented Designers' Showcase

From The Bath Chronicle Thu 6 May, 2010

Creative design students at a Bath secondary school have put on an exhibition showcasing the work they have produced throughout the year.  Pupils at the Royal High School have displayed a diverse range of items, including furniture, jewellery, clocks and lighting, which they have made in their design technology classes.  Although most of the work is from GCSE and A-Level assessment projects, the exhibition also showcased the talent of youngsters from Years 7, 8 and 9.  Head of Design Technology Colin Treacher said he was proud of the hard work his students had put into their designs.  He said:  "The commitment, enthusiasm, creativity and attention to detail in much of the work is astonishing.  It is very encouraging to see increasing numbers of our students working towards design and technology-based careers, on which much of the country's future competitiveness depends."  Students have been specifically considering environmental issues and have found ways to use recycled or sustainable materials.
