Roof Project

Preserving Architectural Splendour

The Royal High School is located on two sites, both with stunning and breath-taking architecture. The senior school site (on Lansdown Road) is steeped in over 150 years of history and so naturally this comes with many challenges in preserving some of its most beautiful listed grade II buildings. One of which is the preservation of the extensive roof and external structures that are in need of significant repair and refurbishment.

As a result, the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) has embarked on an extensive roof replacement and external repairs project that started with phase I back in the Summer of 2015. We are now well into phase II which is due for completion in Autumn of this year with phases III and IV scheduled for the summer of 2017 and 2018 respectively.

As with all our projects we are committed to ensuring we consider every aspect of the design impact on our surrounding environment. To ensure that we do this to the highest level, our architect is working closely with a number of specialists from planning consultants to ecology experts. At the same time, we are making every effort to ensure that there is minimal disruption to our neighbours and the local community as these critical works are underway.
