Welcome back to a new year
The Head's Study
“ Never underestimate the value of random acts of kindness.”Mrs Reynolds, Head
Streamed live from her office, Mrs Reynolds’ first assembly saw her welcome all our students and staff back to Royal High School Bath and a new academic year – with a particular welcome to new girls, boarders and members of staff joining us.
Much has happened since we left school on 20th March. Mrs Reynolds reminded us all of that time in late March and our School’s overnight transition to guided home learning and the outstanding efforts from all our staff and students throughout lockdown.
Returning to school at this strange time means a few changes to our normal routine. From year group bubbles and zones in school to face coverings in shared spaces and staggered lunchtimes, our girls have done incredibly well on the first day of the entire school being back. This ‘new normal’ is different for all of us, and we all must commit to staying safe within school and out of it.
In the coming weeks once our boarding girls have cleared their isolation periods, there’s a lot of excitement around restarting some our typical school activities and programmes.
Mrs Reynolds encouraged the girls to be kind and “never underestimate the value of random acts of kindness”. Emphasis was placed upon friendships, the changes these may have seen during lockdown and the need to support others at this tough time. Mrs Reynolds also urged them to “say yes” this term, to embrace new opportunities and be open to all that Royal High School has to offer them.
