After standing in for Alisha last minute and only being told the day before, Gladys Cheung has done RHS so proud coming 3rd in the Boarding Schools’ Association Bake Off Final against 8 tough competitors at Eton today! She was so cool under pressure and took it all in her stride, creating a piñata pink lemonade cake (photos attached) which looked and tasted amazing (bottom tier vanilla cake with pink lemonade butter icing with popping candy, middle tier lemon cake with lemon butter icing, then top tier rose cake with butter icing, decorated with biscuits).
She was congratulated by celebrity chef (and judge) James Tanner who was impressed that she hadn’t had a chance to practise beforehand and loved the element of surprise inside the cake.
I cannot tell you what a fantastic ambassador to the school she is and the whole competition, with Alisha also winning the heats, has been great!
We’re already planning next year’s entry! Any suggestions gratefully received...
