Some 38 schools attended a reduced but more efficient MUN conference last weekend at Kingswood School including a delegation from their neighbour, the Royal High School. Mr Hayward and Mr Evans took a day each while the students, some 17 in number from Year 12, attended all three. The event began with a talk by Angus Fraser, who amusingly reminded us that he was Darcey Bussell’s husband, the talk focusing on global warming and the need for a Global Planet Authority right now to save us all from destruction – a serious magnificent warning, a serious magnificent start to the weekend.
Each of our students had joined a committee for one of our three allocated countries given to us at random, namely Qatar, Paraguay and the U.S.A. A very special thanks from us all must go to Mr David Cox who is working in Qatar and replied generously to many questions from the Qatari members beforehand, thereby helping them have an up-to-date real life picture of the various issues as relating to Qatar.
Congratulations to Laura de Remedios who was awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ for her role as delegate for the U.S.A. on The U.N.’s Security Council!
