Last Friday afternoon, the girls studying French from years seven, eight and nine went to the Sophie Cameron Theatre ready and excited to watch the French Play (performed by the Flying Theatre Company). The show was performed by one character called Pierre who spoke almost entirely in French – it was good to hear the language being spoken normally because you had to concentrate harder to translate and work out what he was saying. Within fifteen minutes we were learning the ‘Directions rap’ with some great onstage dancing from Clemmie and Lola. Later on, there was also some more great performing from Evie who had to catch skittles while Pierre was on a (very high) unicycle!
A special mention should go to Mrs Bailey who took part in Pierre’s baguette juggling act without dropping anything - she also stayed calm when he stood on the table behind her - Well done Mrs Bailey!
I think we all thoroughly enjoyed this play because despite not knowing every word we definitely understood what was going on and especially enjoyed Pierre’s dance routine at the beginning! Thank you to Mr Rocca and the French department for organising this super event.
