Year 5 Hockey

Team :  Year 5 Hockey Team

Opposition: Paragon

Members of the Team:  The whole class

Result:   No results as this was a training match and all girls included

Player/s of the afternoon:  All the girls worked tirelessly, but special mention to Bella and Flo for being in goal for the first time, and to Sophie A, Thalia, Hattie, Evie and Matilda for endless running, strength on the ball and great tackling.

Memorable Moves and Moments:  All the girls learned so much. The indoor game is very fast and the girls had to adjust quickly to the pace of the ball.  For each team, the second half showed a clear improvement with girls learning to space themselves out to allow the ball to be passed accurately. This spacing also meant that we always had someone in the right place to receive the ball or to make a tackle. The girls learned to increase their power on the ball using a lower body position and we saw huge determination and commitment from all.   This was a good start from what promises to be a fantastic hockey term.

Year 6 Hockey

Team : Four Year 6 Teams

Opposition: Paragon

Members of the Team:  The whole year group

Result: No set results as this was a training match and all girls included.

Players of the afternoon:   Míla, Daisy, Ophelia, Tilly, Holly and Ella, for working tirelessly to send the ball with power, distribute it wide and attack

Memorable Moves and Moments:  All the girls improved their sends adding more power to passes and shots in the second half of their matches. The teams were enthusiastic to get the ball into attacking situations and showed improved determination to win the ball from the opposition as the games developed. It was really leasing to see a large number of girls attempting shots on goal. A good starting point for the term.
