From January 2019, the Royal High Junior School became the Royal High Prep School. We held a week of activities for the girls, culminating in a launch on Friday 11th January.
We have had a fantastic week at the Prep School, including the discovery of a brand new installation from Mr Woods! The week began by Miss Hughes explaining in assembly that the Junior School now has a new name for the new year....the Royal High Prep School!
The emphasis for the girls has been linking Prep to ‘being prepared’, ‘preparing’ for the Senior School and ‘preparation’ for the future. We discussed how parents had helped prepare each and every one of us before we started school and then met a very prepared goat from the film Hoodwinked.
Nursery and Reception
Nursery and Reception PREPared to Make Their Mark as first aiders today with a visit from Sister Matthews. They also learnt how to call for an ambulance
Year 1 PREPared to Make Their Mark as explorers with our new theme ‘Sailing the Seas’ and our special visitor, Keith told the girls all about his sailing adventures.
Keith has had lots of experience in sailing, so he taught us what the different parts of the ship are called – the girls were able to add their own labels to the model ship. We learnt how to tie knots for ships, using ropes and even how to use a compass to navigate!
Year 2 PREPared to Make Their Mark saving lives with RNLI crew member, Richard. We learnt all about the incredible work the RNLI volunteers do saving lives and keeping people safe on the beach.
Year 3 PREPared to make their mark in space as they learnt all about NASA from Sixth Former Bethan Hughes, who visited last year.
Year 4 PREPared to Make Their Mark in the kitchen with a much kneaded session from Clayton's Kitchen learning to make bread. Things got messy, but lots of great progress was made!
They really...rose...to the challenge, and everyone 'proofed' to be star bakers!
Year 5 PREPared to make the world a better place by learning about the importance of recycling.
They also PREPared to navigate the skies! As Royal Air Force pilot and Red Arrows trainer Alasdair from Ascent Flight Training taught KS2 all about flying, and how to be PREPared.
Year 6 PREPared to Make Their Mark for a greener planet by learning about what they can do to combat the Plastic Problem from the brilliant Neighbourly - a company connecting charities, businesses and volunteers, and what big companies can do to help!
We also PREPared to conserve and protect wildlife, by learning about bird populations in Bath, and why gulls are becoming extinct from Behavioural Scientist and Psychologist in the field of Ecology, Chris Pawson.
We rounded off this fantastic week by celebrating with this beautiful and delicious cake!
