Year 13 gained a real insight into what to expect at University when 5 girls form the class of 2016 came back to tell the students all about their first year of university study.
We were delighted to welcome back Lana Firth (Classics and English at Oxford), Abigail Dicks (Sport Development at Cardiff Metropolitan), Gemma Bedford (Natural Sciences at Durham), Scarlett Long (Psychology and Linguistics at Oxford) and Emily Stainer (English and Film Studies at Leeds). This fantastic group of alumnae gave their advice and guidance about everything from choosing a course and university to making friends and joining clubs and societies to budgeting, cooking and of course studying. With representatives from such a wide range of courses and universities our students were able to learn about the important of being self-motivated with regards to independent study and the benefits of fully utilising the help on offer from tutors and lecturers.
It was fantastic to hear how happy and settled our alumnae are at their chosen universities and how much they are enjoying not only their studies but also the other activities and opportunities on offer. We look forward to welcoming back the current Year 13s in a couple of years’ time to pass on their own wisdom to the years below!
