On Saturday, on top of the Languages Outreach event, and the fantastic rounders fixture on the Paddock Field, we hosted a fabulous Royal Wedding Garden Party.
At 11am, the 150 guests and lots of our lovely boarders arrived at our stunning marquee on the Chapel Field, filled with flowers, union jacks and vintage bunting galore, and were greeted by the smiling faces of Harry and Meghan! Taking a seat or a bean bag, adults had a welcoming cup of tea, whilst children ran off to play in the field or with the games set up for the occasion. Soon, our lovely catering team brought out a delicious array of ‘afternoon’ tea, featuring sandwiches, scones, fruit skewers – a very British affair. The crowds filled their plates quickly and settled down to watch the wedding of the year. As the ceremony began on the large screen (which was doing its best in the bright midday sunlight), the Prosecco flowed and cheers of delight rang out.
With such beautiful weather, the guests were able to spill out onto the field to enjoy their food, drinks and ice-creams and carry on the merriment of the day. The atmosphere buzzed with sunny merriment and it was a delight to see the school community come together to celebrate this happy occasion.
Huge thanks go to the catering team and all the Friends of RHS who helped to decorate the marquee and served amounts of ice-cream and drinks throughout the day. And of course, thanks to all those who came along and took part in such a lovely celebration.
