Full steam ahead! Year 1 and 2 had a fantastic trip to the SS Great Britain on Tuesday to learn all about Brunel’s famous ship. It was fascinating to discover the inside of the ship and investigate the dry dock and we all worked as a team to learn how to hammer rivets into the metal to create the hull! The girls reflected on the challenges of being a 3rd or 4th class passenger and lots of them said they would have rather travelled in style in 1st class! The highlight of the trip was when we all dressed up in clothes from the era and attended the official launch of the SS Great Britain! The girls really impressed us with the level of interest they showed and the scope and range of the questions that they asked. It was a brilliant day and a great start to our thematic learning about ships, adventures and sailing the seas!
