Year 1 and Year 2 had a fantastic day out at Blaise Castle House Museum, to fit in with our theme ‘Come and Play’.
On arrival at the museum, we were dressed up as Victorian maids before taking part in a workshop where we played with and sorted lots of toys from past and present. One of the highlights was exploring a selection of toys that trick your brain into thinking pictures are moving, such as flick books and zoetropes, which are drums that spin and make pictures appear to move. We learnt that these were very popular in the days before TV and cinema.
After lunch, we did a trail around the museum where we had to spot objects and find out facts about them. We also did some more dressing up. What a fun day!
