Music With No Limits
As we evolve as a school, we are determined that our facilities and resources should match our top-class levels of teaching and care, ensuring that our students gain the benefits of learning in a truly contemporary environment. Over the next two to three years, the GDST will be investing several million pounds into our school to ensure our facilities match the top-class level of teaching and care that our students experience every day.
The first area of focus will be one that is fundamental to the holistic education we provide for girls of all ages: Music.
This Autumn, (subject to final planning permission) we will begin to transform the Gatehouse on Charlcombe Lane into a contemporary, new Music School. This will provide an inspirational space for all girls to enhance their musical education, explore their creativity, and encourage even greater co-curricular participation.
One of the most innovative parts of the Music School will be a Recording Studio. This will give our students the chance to record, engineer and produce music of every genre, and will open the doors to an abundance of opportunities for all girls, from those in our youngest years at Cranwell House, to those in our Sixth Form. With this resource, our Music School will not only be stunning, it will be spectacular.
We are fortunate to have secured £1.7 million of funding from the GDST for the Music School, but these funds are not quite enough for the final piece in the Music School jigsaw puzzle, the Recording Studio.
So we are very excited to have launched our first fundraising appeal in many years to raise at least £65,000 (ideally £100,000) to make this a reality. The support of our parent and alumnae community is integral to the success of this appeal, and we are so grateful for all donations, no matter how large or small.
Our appeal brochure contains lots more information about the appeal and how you can support it.
And our brand new appeal film illustrates just how excited our girls are about the new Music School and Recording Studio!
