The Friends of The Royal High School is a lively group of parents, staff and the Head Teachers from both the Junior and Senior School, with two key aims:
- to raise funds for extra-curricular opportunities for the girls
- to build a friendly and inclusive school community
We are an active group who arrange a wide range of social and fundraising events throughout the year. Events in recent years have included an annual Christmas Bazaar, a special Gala Ball, annual Fireworks Display, School Discos, Wine Tasting Nights, Dog Shows, Quiz Nights and more, which are well supported by the parents and teachers. The Friends also receive an impressive amount of money from the second-hand uniform shop.
Each year, through the funds we raise, we are able to support the school by making donations that facilitate the purchasing of specialist resources and ‘icing on the cake’ equipment for the girls. In the last year alone, this has included a Photolithography Exposure Unit for the Art Department, outdoor toys and games for the Junior School playground, a set of mobile floodlights for the PE department, a performance from the Flying Theatre Company and lots more.
We also offer the Sixth Form students the opportunity to be considered for an Education Award, awarded each year to applicants who are seeking support for a gap year project, initiative or endeavour that will further their career aspirations.
All of this is only possible due to the commitment of those involved in running the Friends initiatives, and those who support the events and activities throughout the year.
