School House (11-16)
School House is the boarding house for Years 7-11 situated upstairs in the beautiful neo-Gothic architecture of the main school, ensuring that boarding girls are always at the heart of the school and its day-to-day life. Boarders here are cared for pastorally by an experienced team as well as being academically supported by the Heads of Key Stage, benefitting both from guidance on personal growth and academic progress. The girls in School House are encouraged to foster good study habits, develop and broaden their individual interests and skills, taking advantage of all co-curricular opportunities on offer. School House Angels are appointed to assist and look out for new boarders initially, helping them to settle in to House and School life here at RHS.
The living areas in School House are chic and modern, with two spacious common rooms, one equipped with a kitchen, and a workroom for supervised prep (Year 7-9) but is also for all year groups’ general study. Accommodation for Schoo House boarders comprises of a variety of 3 to 6 bedded dorms for Years 7-9 and double rooms for Year 10 and 11. All rooms have a sink, stylish furniture, a lockable cupboard and access to WiFi. There is an addition “quiet space” for girls to have private conversations home or with friends, or even time out if needed. Should a boarder fall ill, we have 24-hour care including a medical centre staffed with registered nurses and the boarding staff are advanced first aid trained. In addition, School House has its own medical room.
School House boarders do not return to the boarding house in the daytime, they are encouraged to ensure they have everything they need for the day ahead. When the boarders return to House at the end of the school day they are given snacks and refreshments. Day girls are always welcome into both Houses and we find the boarders and day girls mix very well, we often look after them after school and we have many occasional boarding requests. We can accommodate full, weekly, flexi and occasional boarders to suit any need.
