PSHEE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) is an essential part of our pastoral support. It is delivered through a regular fortnightly slot, and through tutor times. We aim to support all young people to become successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve;becoming confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives;and responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society. We use a combination of specialised teachers and outside speakers and the Health and Sex Education sessions are taken by our trained School Nurse.

Recent outside speakers include drugs awareness experts, charity workers, financial experts, First Aid trainers, presentation skills experts and the Police.

Year 7-11 students will have a dedicated PSHEE lesson for one hour per fortnight with teachers on a carousel system.

Year 7 topics include: identity and friendships; staying safe; community identity; and basic finance.

Year 8 topics include: relationships; risky behaviours (including alcohol, drugs and smoking); and human rights and laws.

Year 9 topics include: choices and sex and relationship education from the school nurse; government and parliament; and economic well-being.
