BEBRAS Computational Thinking Competition

03 十二月 2018

Following the huge success of this competition last year, the Senior School again entered 130 girls into this competition, including all of year 7. The results show that our girls are consistently above national average:

Age Group

National Average/200

RHS average

Juniors (Year 7)

Intermediates (Years 8 & 9)

Seniors (Years 10 & 11)

Furthermore, 23 girls achieved in the top 10% in the country and have been invited to another event called the TCS Oxford Computing Competition in March. Congratulations to all the girls but especially for the ‘Best in School’ who were:

Junior – Ellie Gresham and Caitlin McKay

Intermediates – Ellie Blackwall

Seniors – Emily Bleakley

All students who have achieved a Distinction will be presented with certificates in an assembly in the coming weeks.

About Bebras: This is a key competition in the school year for Computing and shows that girls can do really well and have an excellent chance to compete in the IT industry, which is currently heavily dominated by males. I have encouraged the girls who entered to challenge their parents to answer some of the questions by logging into

The next competition is CyberFirst for year 8 girls only in January. We will be recruiting for teams of up to 4 girls in the near future. Details can be found at where there are also exciting opportunities for residential courses, bursaries and apprenticeship schemes.
