On Friday 8th June, Year 3 had a really exciting time camping overnight in our beautiful school grounds! First, we played some fun games, like sardines, with Miss Hughes. Secondly, we helped our parents put up our tents. It was very complicated. Year 3 had some time to play with each other whilst our parents unpacked.
At 6 pm we had a barbeque. We had a choice of hot dogs or burgers and a big selection of salads and drink. It was delicious – thank you, Alan and team.
After we had eaten, Ms Appleby set up a scavenger hunt where we had to look for nature objects and treasure. Soon after that, we play rounders, which was fun as our parents joined in. The dads were big hitters!
When we returned to our tents we went down to the campfire where we sang some songs. Mr Rushworth, Ella’s father and Alice’s father played the guitar. They were amazing! We sang Yellow Submarine, She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain and a song about a gorilla. We cooked marshmallows over the flames and squashed them between biscuits – mmmm!
Soon after that, we went to the Celtic hut for a scary story by torchlight. Then we all went to bed. At 6 am we woke up! We played and packed up and we went back home. It was brilliant and we’d love to do it again! Thank you to all the teachers who helped.
