Why choose us as an international student?
International students join a warm, welcoming, English‑speaking community where they quickly feel at home. With around 80% of our students coming from across the UK, they are immersed in a truly British school environment from day one, supported by staff who help them settle in and thrive both academically and personally.
Royal High Bath is built on confidence, curiosity and connections. These values guide how we welcome new students, the tailored academic support we offer, and the meaningful friendships and opportunities they discover throughout their time with us.
International students make up around 20% of our community. Some are British pupils living overseas; others join us from a wide range of countries and backgrounds. All must have a strong level of written and spoken English to access the curriculum.
Students can join from Year 5–12, with key entry points for Year 7,GCSEs (Years 10–11), the One‑Year GCSE programme and Sixth Form. Applications may be made directly or through an educational agent.
With more than 100 co‑curricular activities, from STEM societies and music ensembles to sport, drama, debating and art, international students have countless opportunities to explore new interests, form friendships and build the confidence to thrive.
Designed for Girls
At Royal High Bath we believe that girls do better in an environment designed specifically for them. Girls are at the heart of everything we do, and we want every single one of them to feel known, supported and able to shine, and to leave us with the skills and confidence to make their mark on the world.
Curriculum
We are passionate about helping each girl grow in confidence as she explores her talents and ambitions. Our expert teachers – specialists in a wide range of subjects – inspire students to feed their curiosity and challenge themselves in fresh, exciting ways.
Our academic results are consistently outstanding, and every student is encouraged to take pride in her journey and to feel confident in her progress.
One-Year GCSE
Our One‑Year GCSE programme offers an accelerated pathway for students who wish to strengthen their academic portfolio and achieve ambitious results in a single year.
Students can choose from an extensive range of subjects – including separate sciences, six modern and ancient languages, and a rich selection of humanities, creative and physical disciplines. The programme is designed to stretch, support and inspire, helping students build strong foundations for Sixth Form and beyond.
Sixth Form
Our future‑focused Sixth Form blends a strong academic programme with enriching electives and exceptional pastoral guidance. Students are supported to shape their next steps with confidence – whether they are preparing for university, creative pathways or global opportunities.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
High‑quality EAL provision is central to our international students’ success. Fully integrated into school life, it gives multilingual learners the language, clarity and confidence to thrive. Led by specialist teachers and grounded in leading research, our programme provides consistent, structured support across all subjects.
Our Head of International Students, Miss Natalie Cheers, ensures staff are equipped with effective strategies to help students excel. The exceptional 2025 results – with every Year 11 EAL student achieving grade 9 – show the impact of this approach.
If you would like to speak with Miss Cheers, our Admissions Team can arrange a call.
Short‑Stay Immersion Programme
We also offer a welcoming Short‑Stay Immersion Programme, giving international students the chance to join us for a year, a term or even a half‑term. These short courses offer a rich taste of British boarding school life, complete with cultural immersion, language development, and full access to academic lessons and co‑curricular activities. It’s an excellent way for students to build confidence, experience life in a supportive community, and discover whether a longer stay in the UK is right for them.
Boarding Life
At Royal High we offer a full range of boarding options in Years 7-13 to suit individual family needs including, occasional stays, short stays, weekly boarding from Sunday night to Friday after school and full boarding.
We welcome a diverse, international group of girls into our boarding houses, alongside our UK students. We pride ourselves on providing a home away from home where she can develop her sense of confidence and develop a network of international friendships that will span a lifetime.
A life-long connection
The Royal High Bath Alumnae Network provides our former students with a life-long connection to our school. All former students of Royal High Bath, Bath High School and The Royal School are considered members of this thriving network. We help you to keep in touch with the friends, teachers and community that formed such a key part of your life for many years.
