Music

Music is such an important part of all our lives and at Royal High School Bath we ensure that every girl has the opportunity to fulfil their potential and enjoy getting involved – whether as a performer or a composer.”
Mr Bradbury, Director of Music

GCSE and A Level Music is very popular here at the Royal High School and many pupils enjoy furthering their knowledge through more detailed analysis of set works from many genres, compositions to specific briefs and practical performances in any style. Many of our past students have continued their musical education at prestigious conservatoires and universities such as the RWCMD.

This course offers you the chance to discover more about music and your own creativity through working in a very practical way – performing, appraising and creating music is the basis of all lessons.

It's open to musicians from all backgrounds and interests, from rock singers to violinists.

During the course, there are lots of opportunities to share your performance talents with others from concerts to leading workshops in primary schools. We also offer opportunities to attend concerts and masterclasses given by professional musicians locally and nationally.

Being an All-Steinway Music School means that our students get access to more opportunities through our connection with Steinway and Sons. Not only do we have several Steinway pianos in our school for students to practice on, but our partnership also gives us access to specialist masterclasses with Steinway artists.

A great deal of support is available from our permanent teaching staff as well as over 20 visiting peripatetic teachers who offer tuition in most musical instruments including harp, guitar, percussion, and singing.
