On Monday, we were delighted to welcome the majority of our incoming Year 7 students for a fun-filled and heartwarming Welcome Day ahead of their official start this September.

The day was designed to help our new students feel at home, and it certainly delivered! From an exciting treasure hunt to help them explore the school grounds, to friendship bracelet making with their ‘big sisters’ - mentors from Years 7 and 8 who will help guide them in their first few weeks of term. The girls tackled every activity with enthusiasm which sparked both creativity and new connections, the atmosphere was full of laughter and optimism.

Students also enjoyed a lively singing session with Mr Bradbury, and even an impromptu game of Splat with our fantastic Year 12 Leadership Team during a fire drill—turning the unexpected into a moment of joy and bonding.

It was a pleasure to see both day and boarding students beginning to form friendships and settle into the Royal High community. The energy, smiles, and sense of belonging were truly uplifting.

Dr Jenkin, Head of Year 7 explains: “The Welcome Day is a wonderful opportunity for new students to get a taste of life at Senior School, explore the site, make new friends and get excited for all that Year 7 will bring. The girls were adventurous, curious, had a lot of fun making new friendships that may last a lifetime.”

Later that evening, we welcomed parents and carers to a dedicated Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening. This event offered valuable insights into life in the Senior School, including academic expectations, pastoral care, and co-curricular opportunities. It was also a wonderful opportunity for parents to network with each other, meet key members of the Senior School staff, and begin building their own connections within the Royal High community.

Together, the day and evening created a warm and welcoming introduction to life at Royal High School Bath. We can’t wait to see these bright young minds and their families return in September, ready to begin this exciting new chapter.
