Alumna Mathura Takes on the London Marathon 2026

Sixth Form, Senior School, Alumnae, Alumna Spotlight

This week we were pleased to hear from former Head Girl, Mathura, who left Royal High prior to 2021 and is now in her fifth year of medical studies. It is fantastic to see her continuing to thrive and embracing new challenges, as she prepares to take on the London Marathon next week.

Mathura is running in aid of the Students’ Union Participation Fund at UCL, a cause close to her heart which supports students in accessing clubs and societies without financial barriers. She credits the fund with enabling her own involvement in the Medics’ Rowing Club, where she has gone on to become President this year, as well as achieving the impressive milestone of qualifying for the Henley Royal Regatta last year.

A former RHB bursary student, Mathura spoke warmly about the transformative impact this support had on her time at Royal High Bath. The opportunities she was given, both inside and outside the classroom, helped to build her confidence and ambition, opening doors that have led her to where she is today. She reflects that the foundation provided during her time at school played a key role in enabling her to pursue medicine and embrace leadership opportunities along the way.

This all really was possible with the time that I was at Royal High, giving me my first opportunities, through the RHB Bursary! ”

With just one year remaining before she hopes to qualify as a doctor, it is inspiring to see the lasting impact of those early opportunities continuing to shape her journey.

Mathura would be hugely grateful for any support from the Royal High community. If you would like to contribute to her fundraising efforts, please visit her page here:
