Art Department launches Watch This Space Gallery
Senior School, Art
The start of 2026 has seen our Art Department foyer become home to two exhibitions by Year 12 students that explore personal ideas and experiences through their artwork.Â
Kitty curated the first exhibition which was inspired by her experiences of living with FND and how that has affected her day-to-day life in school.
The most recent work on show has been created by Georgie whose project began as an investigation into fear: what it looks like, how it shifts, and how it can be understood rather than avoided. Starting with intimate, searching drawings, Georgie gradually pushed her ideas into larger, more expressive paintings, each one revealing a different facet of the emotions she was exploring.
The process has been hugely fulfilling for her - not only because of the work itself, but because of the time, trust and encouragement she’s been given by her teachers. Having the freedom to develop a project over many months, and then curate it in a professional space, is exactly what she loves about studying Art at Royal High.
Head of Art, Hannah Wilson, said:Â
"I am so proud of Kitty and Georgie who have worked with passion and dedication to produce their exhibition work. The creative bravery on show is inspiring and I am delighted that this space will allow students of all years to be celebrated by the school whilst enabling a greater understanding of how to curate an exhibition to be developed."
