Our students recently swapped classrooms for countryside as they headed to Folly Farm for an immersive biology field experience packed with real‑world science, wildlife encounters, and unforgettable moments.

From the moment they arrived, the girls threw themselves into hands‑on ecological investigation — sampling techniques across diverse habitats, analysing data to test for significant differences, and applying the scientific method with confidence and curiosity. Whether comparing quadrat results or debating statistical outcomes, they brought rigour and enthusiasm to every task.

The trip’s wildlife highlights were nothing short of magical. During an evening hide session, students were treated to a rare and heart‑warming sight: an adult badger and its cub foraging just metres away. Earlier in the day, pond dipping revealed a hidden world of aquatic invertebrates, sparking excitement as students identified species and logged their findings.

As the sun dipped behind the hills, sunset walks offered time to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the landscape in golden light. Add in hearty food, shared laughter, and the kind of company that turns a field trip into a lifelong memory, and you have a perfect blend of science, adventure, and community.

This wasn’t just a trip — it was a celebration of curiosity, teamwork, and the joy of discovering the natural world together
