Brilliant Bronze for Artistic Swimmers
Three Royal High School Bath students are celebrating national success after helping Team Bath Artistic Swimming Club secure a historic bronze medal at the Swim England Artistic Swimming Combo Cup in Sheffield this month.Â
Selma, Marni and Scarlett were part of a ten-girl Team Bath squad that competed in Division 1 of the prestigious national competition, for swimmers aged 13–19. Held at the renowned Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the Combo Cup brings together some of the country's most talented artistic swimmers, with teams travelling from across England to compete.Â
The Team Bath athletes delivered an outstanding free combination routine, competing against seven other teams in their age category. Their performance earned them a bronze medal and marked a significant milestone for the club: Team Bath's first-ever junior medal at the Combo Cup.Â
Reflecting on their achievement, Marni said:Â "I am proud of us winning a medal but I'm even more proud of the hard work that got us here".Â
Selma was keen to share: "It was good that the split-lift went so well, as it set the tone for the rest of the routine".Â
Her father added: "They performed their routine beautifully and it was probably the best they have ever done it. This was Team Bath's first ever junior medal at this competition, so everyone is feeling very proud."Â
Based at the University of Bath, Team Bath Artistic Swimming Club has developed a strong reputation for nurturing talented athletes, and this latest success demonstrates the hard work, dedication and teamwork of its swimmers.Â
Artistic swimming combines athleticism, strength and precision with creativity and performance, requiring swimmers to execute highly synchronised routines in time to music. The Combo Cup is one of the highlights of the national artistic swimming calendar and is held under the oversight of Swim England.Â
For Selma, Marni and Scarlett, standing on the national podium alongside their teammates was a fitting reward for countless hours of training and preparation. Their bronze-medal-winning routine was not only a personal triumph but also a landmark result for Team Bath's junior programme.Â
Everyone at Royal High School Bath congratulates Selma, Marni and Scarlett on their fantastic achievement and on helping Team Bath make club history.Â
Congratulations, girls!Â
